Dell Replacment Battery
Hi All

I recently bought a Replacment Battery for my Dell Inspiron 6000 XP . The Battery is by all accounts the correct replacment but when I put it in and try to boot up it up shuts down my computer . Also when i put it in it makes my computer noisy as a result of the fan coming on ? The battery light flashes green orange green orange too ..When i contacted the retailer they told me update the BIOS but when i try to do so from the Dell site it just brings me to a fault page after clicking download..Anyway Im not sure i want to update the BIOS as some forums don't recommend so ..

I'm a real novice ..Wonder can anyone help ?

Have a fault in the battery ...The company thinks it's my machine and not their battery ..I can return it but i would rather get it working.

Rgds

What is the voltage rating of the new battery. As near as I can ascertain, you should be using a 11.1 V battery. Compare the voltage rating of the new battery to the old one (if you still have it).

BTW... I was unable to find anything using Dell 6000 XP. Is it an Inspiron 6000 or perhaps a Inspiron 6000 XPS?

Hi Raybro

Its a Dell Inspirion 6000 running Win XP . The Dell battery is 11.1 V and the replacmentis also a 11.1V - Heres the details of the replacment battery.

Battery Type :
Li-ion

Voltage :
11.1V

Capacity :
6600mAh

Color :
Black

Dimension :
209.40 x 71.80 x 19.80 mm

Condition:
Brand New 100% ,Compatible

Product type:
Replacement

Its says the capacity on my Dell Battery is 53WH ? The replacment is a 9 Cell battery . The company from whom I bought the product insures me its compatible with Inspiron 6000 ? As i said it starts to boot up but shuts the computer down also the LED for the battery on my laptop flashes orange green ...orange green.

They asked me to update my BIOS but i seem to have the latest BIOS A09.

Rgds

Can you turn on the laptop when just using the AC adapter without the battery? It is possible that the battery you purchase is faulty and request to have it replaced. According to Dell Website the latest BIOS update for your laptop is A09 in which you stated is already installed on your computer.

The green-orange-green-orange blink means you have an unsupported (non-Dell) battery.

Dell Battery LED codes;

Don't know if the Dell Diagnostics contains a battery test, but might give you some more information.
