With no unknown devices listed, the audio device is
probably disabled in the bios setup.
Might want to check there and enable it and insatll drivers
once it is detected.

If it is a factory built computer, there may be page tabs.
Look at the top in the bios.
You may need to use the arrow keys to change pages.
What is the make and model of the computer or motherboard?

Suggest you download and run Belarc Advisor. It is FREE.
http://belarc.com/free_download.html

Will give you more detailed information on your system; maunufacturer, at least base model, serial numbers, etc.. I ti tsees your Audio Device, it will be listed under MultiMedia.
Toshiba used Conexant Audio for onboard a lot.

Did Device Manager list anything under "Other"? A driver problem could cause the computer to not recognize the device and that there is a problem, so it will be listed under "Other" without an error indicator.

Anything listed under "Other" in Device Manager, with or without a ?, could be your Audio Controller since you do not have one listed under Audio.

Was hoping Belarc would show something like this under System Model heading.

TOSHIBA Satellite L15 PSL10U-01X02FV
System Serial Number: 35049015W
Asset Tag: PSL10U-01X02FV
Chassis Serial Number: 35049015W
Enclosure Type: Notebook

Look on the bottom of the laptop.
There should be a data plate with the model number.

DLS : anything that could look like a audio device thing under "other" is "multimedia audio controller" with a "yellow ?" as everything else under "other".

The yellow "?" is not normal at all. There is a driver problem no matter what any program you install say. If you don't have the driver cd, then download all the drivers you need. In my case, a virus was causing mass destruction under my drivers, so maybe you can do a thorough scan for virusses first

We need that System information in Belarc to be able to identify the Toshiba model. From that we should be able to identify the correct audio controller and help you find the drivers at Tosheba support.

The "muiltimedia audio controller" under "Other" is your audio device.. The circle with ?, shows something is wrong. Probably drivers corrupted so bad that the computer doesn't even know the proper location for it.

Something else youcan chek that might help.
Go into Device Manager, Other and right click on the "multimedia audio controller".
Click on Properties at the bottom of the popup menu.
Tell us what is listed in the Device status box on the General tab.
Click the Drivers tab.
Report the Driver Provider, Date, and Version that it shows.
