Issues With Vista and my Canon MP160
This was a thread that a previous user posted. It's currently closed but is exactly my problem:

Canon MP160/Vista issue I have Vista Home Premium and a Canon MP160 multifunction printer. I have the latest drivers installed from the Canon website but for some reason, the MP Navigator vers. 3.02 for Vista is not working.

This program is for the scanning function of the printer and after install, when I double click it, I receive an error that says 'The scanner driver supported for this software is not installed. Install it and then retry.' So I uninstall everything and then reinstall but the outcome is always the same. The printer function works perfectly but the scanner function is not working. I have even tried as a last resort the MP Navigator for MP960 printer but I receive the same error.

If everything were running normal, all I would do is press the Scan button on the printer and this MP Navigator is supposed to automatically run and help me with the scan function. When I do press this button, there is no response at all. I have even restarted after install but to no avail. I right-click the icon for MP Navigator and change the compatibility mode to XP and to start program as an administrator and result is always the same, 'The scanner driver supported for this software is not installed. Install it and then retry.' I search the Canon website for this scanner driver but there is nothing! Help! Please!

Uninstall the software.

Right click on the Canon installer file and select properties, compatibility tab, check the run as admin box, hit OK. Now double click the installer to install the software, see if it works now.

The installer should be labeled "mp160win111ea23.exe"

Install the the printer/scanner software, and then in device manager choose to update the driver, then direct Vista to your Windows folder and have it search for the driver.

I'll explain this better tomorrow when my pain meds are doing a beter job, sorry.
