Need a little help, PLEASE
I have a Gateway 700se. The problem is my monitor cuts out and goes into power saver mode. When I start up the PC it will run fine for about 20 and then the monitor will shut off. I thought maybe the processer fan was not working and was overheating. I took off the side panel and both the Power Supply and the Processer fan are working. I left the side off and it ran close to an hour before the monitor went into power saver mode. Can anyone give me a little direction on which way to pursue this issue. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Thank You

maybe your power suply is dying? You might want to either get a new one if possible or maybe (it might not work) diconnect and reconnect it. (this sometimes works but be sure to know where everything goes before disconnecting it.)

Since it worked longer with the side cover OFF, I would tend to think it is overheating. Do the following;

1 With the side cover OFF, give the system a good cleaning with a can of air. [Note you might want to take the case outside to blow it out]

2 Once clean, check the heat sink fan and make sure it is firmly attached. If it is loose, you have found your problem.

3 Make sure the pw supply is cleaned when you blow out the case.

Now pw ON and check your temps. This can be done in the bios OR you can use something like speedfan or hwmonitor to monitor temps. Post the results here.
