Slaving IDE to SATA
I kept getting stuck in a reboot loop even after reloading windows on to my old drive so decided to pick up a new HD. I am not trying to figure out this issue.

The new drive is a SATA hard drive and the old one is an IDE. I partitioned the SATA drive, and set up Windows on it, but I can not figure out how to slave the old IDE drive to it. I need to figure out how to get the IDE slaved to the SATA so I can dump files. Also need to dump files from a couple other IDE drives also so it is important that I can figure out how to Slave the IDE drive.

The pin is setup properly in Slave, but when booting up the computer and going into My Computer the IDE drive does not show at all.

There is no "master/slave" for SATA drives. It is only a way of keeping track of connectors on the same cable and has nothing to do with drive functionality. So, what exactly do you mean that you want to "slave" the drive?

If all you want to do is copy files, the 2 drives need not have any particular relationship to one another. They should both appear in explorer and you just drag and drop.

If the IDE does not appear, check BIOS settings and be sure that the machine is set to autodetect drives and that that connector is not set to "None".
