Cannot access my USB ports??
Hi Everyone,
When i plug in my usb key it is recognise and asks me to install software using Wizard so i continue with this process, when it completes it says an error occurred when installing new hardware. This happens for my iPod and any other USB device.
Though when i turn on my computer with my USB key plugged in the light on it lights up so it is active at this point but once the Microsoft start up screen begins the light turns off?
So do you think it might be a virus preventing the use of my USB ports or is it a driver issue??
I have been trying to solve this problem for so ling now and i really hope someone can hep me out!
thank you!

Try uninstalling the drivers for the USB device on your computer under the Device Manager then restart your computer. Once the computer restart wait for Windows recognizes the hardware and allow to finish the installation of the driver. Once it is done, try to plug again your USB device.

I would recomend you take a look in device manager, sounds like a driver problem to me
You can learn about device manager here;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307970

Or simply hold the windows key down and tap the pause key to open Device Manager. You will know there is a driver problem if there is a yellow icon by the device.
