Recently, whenever I plug in my iPod Classic into my computer, the computer freezes.
-I have the most recent version of iTunes downloaded,
-i have scanned my computer for viruses, but not my iPod?...
-I've tried plugging it into the back usb ports of the computer and it still freezes.
-I've heard something about updating BIOS?
-I've uninstalled iTunes and then installed it again,
-I've also tried to plug in my 1st generation iPod shuffle,...and it freezes it aswell....,
-And I've plugged up my iPod and pressed the center and menu button, reset it, locked it and unlocked it, AND IT STILL FREEZES! PLEASE HELP!!!

***I think there's something wrong with the USB port, if that's the case then what could I do about that besides buy a new computer (which is not an option ) I've read other posts that say you can buy something to plug into the USB port and then you plug that into your iPod...
I'VE HAD THE SAME SONGS ON IT FOR ATLEAST 3 MONTHS!! WITH NOTHING NEW...I'M ABOUT TO GO CRAZY!!

***I remember going into the 'add or remove programs' and deleting all of the 'JAVA updates' and 'JAVA runtime environment updates'...then after I found out my iPod was messing up, I did a system restore to put back the updates...they're there now, but ever since I deleted them,...

As long as you have XP or higher chances of it being a problem with the USB ports are slim to none. Your problem then becomes either internal
with the IPOD unit, or your computer.

Chances are something is not configured right in your computer.
That fact that it freezes is really a concern, and should not be
doing that under any circumstances even if IPOD software
is not up to date.

I would suggest doing a restore to a previous date back to when
it was working - And take things from there.

my brother had the same problem turns out it was his IPod he had to return it to apple and have a new one sent to him.

What version IPod is causing the freezing and do you have it set to manually manage music?

I have a ipod classic, ...manually manage? i use itunes and it updates it automatically when i add new songs to my selected ipod playlist

I would call apple I know sometimes this tend to happen with ipods and you can tell itunes you want to manually manage your music with your ipod you could always try that

i tried that, i though when i deleted some things that that caused the problem, but i restored it almost 3 days prior to the day it messed up...i got the things i deleted back, the java updates and java runtime environment updates
