Unhappy USB Host and Devices have all failed.
Today, all my USB devices stopped working!

The problem first occured when my optical USB mouse was unplugged, one reinserting it into the PC, an error message kept on popping up saying that the device was not recognised and may be malfunctioning.

My other USB devices, my wireless card and my Mp3 player continued to function correctly until I restarted the computer. Now all the USB ports fail to work and the computer keeps bringing up error messages claiming that plugged in devices are not being recognised (even if they are not plugged in!)

My Mp3 player still charges off my computer, but I'm quessing this is because the power supply and the information transfer work differently.
In the Device Manager, the USB devices all report that they are enabled and working correctly, all of them.

This is extremily inconveniant as now I have no internet and no real way to back up my files if the PC needs reformatting.

Steps I have taken to no avail:
-Restarting the computer
-System Restore
-Attempting to reinstall drivers
-Disabling all USB drives, restarting, enabling and then restarting again.

Doing a little research shows:
-These symptoms are fairly common, but can only usually be corrected by replacing or repairing the motherboard as it is a hardware fault.
-Steps like reformatting, BIOS editing, registry editing and so on also have no effect on a lot of these cases.

My Computer Specs:
-Windows XP Service Pack 3
-Gigabyte Motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo 8400 running at 3GHz.
-2GB DDR2 RAM
-500GB Hard Drive at 7200rpm
-1GB Nvidia 9600 GT
-Realtek HD Sound Card

My USB Devices include a Sony Walkman, Realtek Wireless Card, Memory Card Host, Joysticks and Digital Camera.

Thank you for reading and I appreciate your support.
