Dell Desktop PC
Have been trying to find a problem with the power turning off, all by itself.
Checked the power supply and power strip, both good.
I found out yesterday, that a Dell Rep. had changed the motherboard 2 months ago, which then led me to believe that maybe the processor heat sink was bad.
Removed processor and cleaned both the chip set and the processor, clean of old heat paste, and re-applied.
System stayed on for 2 hours, and she called me back and said it turned off 3 times within 5 minutes time.
I checked what I know about this, so I need your help to resolve this problem.
What I know about this PC:
Dell Inspiron 580's
Windows Vista opreating system.
2008 model
No extended warranty by customer
Dell techs can't fix problem
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Could you download this program Run that program and then check all the temperatures that it displays. If possible take a screen shot of the program and upload it as an attachment on your next post.

Take a look in Event Viewer/System for red entries.

Temps look good.

Should try powering up in SAFE mode to see if its a software issue. Press F8 several times when turning on the PC until you get the safe mode option to boot (menu). See if the PC will stay on while its sitting idle in that mode.

Sounds like a bad power supply if you have a hardware issue.

Not Power Supply
OK here's the latest:
1.Changed out power supply
2.Checked devise manager with no hardware conflicts
3.Checked system reports for errors
4. in the middle of this 10 minute check, and power on for only that amount of time, Blue Screen Power OFF
I didn't think it was the power supply.
5.Reboot with computer shutdown unexpectedlywindow pops up
I was able to go to view the reasonand took a screenshot of this problem.
Pretty sure it's the OS now.
Going back tomorrow and try a system restore, or complete C:/ format.
But first I want you guys to take a look at the screen shot.
Let me know,

I'm just looking for help on this one compiler,
not being told how how you like to not be or not be notified.
And yes I did start up in Safe Mode.
THERE ARE NO SOFTWARE CONFLICTS
I'll figure this one out myself.
Go help the people that want to get rid of spam on the PC's

We are all volunteers here - noone gets paid, and we provide technical support and help on computers
When a reply is added to a post, you can set up to have an email sent - most users have that method set up - so there is no need to use alternative contacts methods - infact some poster specify DO NOT EMAIL or PM...

As you go through a post - you often will be asked very obvious questions as part of the diagnosis - so all you need to do is reply, really no need to over-react to a simple question about safe mode..

Although you have an experience level of advanced, posters will still ask the basic questions, I do, as OFTEN some of the simplest things are missed ....
