Howdy,

Try it in Safemode and see if the lines still appear...is this a desktop PC?

How to Start in Safemode

1. Restart your computer.
2. Before the windows logo you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode..

If the motherboard has integrated graphics card the try that......also try re seating your plug-in graphics card and checking the cables to and from the monitor and re-seating them

Not all MB have them...take a look at the pic below and seeif you have the 15pin female port (blue) VGA......other than the one your monitor is plugged into right now.

ahh ye i have another one which i guess must be connected to the motherboard judging by where its situated, close to the pink port. Do i literally plug it in there and reboot it or do i need to type some stuff on start up?

thanks

Ok yes try plugging it in there and restarting the PC and see if you get anything....if not put it back on the other one and restart.......you may have to enable it in Bios but lets see

i have tried it again but this time i completely removed my graphics card from the pci slot and then rebooted using the motherboards vga and the intergrated graphics have shown that it was a graphics card problem. I now have no yellow lines and im suprised by just how good the intergrated graphics actually are lol

anyway thanks for all your help megabite, greatly appreciated
