The processor upgrade would likely be expensive. You would have to find out what processors are supported on the motherboard in your laptop. As for the Video card the only upgrade that you would be able to do is buy a new laptop.

thanks for getting back to me. i figured it would be cheaper to just buy a new gaming laptop, but with ebay i thought maybe i could get new parts. this one will play call of duty modern warfare 2, which i guess is call of duty 6. which is good but u have to turn off anti aliasing and reduce the screen size to 800x600. which doesnt change much as far as i can tell. why isnt there a noticble diference between resolutions other than the size of the desktop???

You kind of have to rememebr that most laptops are not really designed as Gaming systems. And there are good reasons for this. Power Requirements for higher end Video, Heat related problems, and such. THere are some Laptops that are actually designed as Gamers. Some of the best are made by Alienware. Though they are very expensive, you can actually get your moneys worth from them. Personally I am not a gamer, so I don't need to spend the money for a gaming system. take a look here to see what they offer. http://www.alienware.com/

ive checked out alienware and yes they are very pricy. i have found comparable not exact mind you substitutes with toshiba qosimo. they have good graphics cards and dual processors and look like my best bet for under $1500 i dont care about hdd as i can just transfer the one in this machine it's an upgrade and memory too i can utilize one of the 2gb ones i have in this laptop. as far as heat goes ive found that dell laptops can run without a fan at all and almost seem to melt from hot and not die my other one had fire melted keys and a broken screen and no fan and it worked quite well and was still working when i trashed it and got this laptop a toshiba that runs qite hot so hot that i fear my lighter would explode if i left it next to the exhaust port. it went through a car crash and ended up with a broken screen so i got it for 65.00 and it lists for 600 even now and is ok with an external screen. i have found though that it's good to remove the broken lcd so that it doesnt revert back to it periodically at reboots which can be frustrating if u have a bios pasword and dont know when to insert it. and i know that the hp dv series is plagued with mobo problems they are crap pardon my french. but i lkve in a hotel and like portability so i dont want a desktop

Strangely Dell do tend to fit replaceable graphics cards in a lot of their Laptops.

really, i'll check into that. that might be because they are customizable when you buy/build them. i looked at a laptop and you have a number of options per component when your buying them. i guess they lure u in with a cheap price then once you pick what u need its a darn sight more than the original starting cost. i turned a $800 laptop into a $6000 one, ha ha but man what a system it was solid state drives the works
