Printer not printing correctly
I have an HP Photosmart Premium C309g wireless printer. It is connected wirelessly to my laptop and our home desktop computer. I have been having a few problems with it.

Sometimes, when I send a document to print, nothing happens. Other times it prints but takes ages ie it will take a long time to start printing, then it will start printing a page, maybe pause for a few seconds and then continue and then repeat this pattern. Just yesterday, it was in the middle of printing a document when it suddenly stopped halfway through a page and didn't start up again. The print job was still in the queue as was the print job that was supposed to follow it, but the printer didn't do anything.

Any ideas what's going on? It sounds like it might be a wireless connection problem to me but damned if I know how to fix it.

Thanks.

First of all, which computer is it connected to, the laptop or the desktop. It can't be connected to both at the same time. (The solution, of course, would be to connect it to a router.) Generally, inkjet printers only have enough memory to hold one or two lines, so when you are printing, it is coming from your computer. Once the printer gets disconnected for some reason, the printer stops. That is your problem--the printer loses the wireless connection.

How are you connecting? Is it via wireless to a router, or are you connecting directly to the printer? This will give us something to start with.

Sorry, yeah it's connected to the router because I can access it from both computers that are on the network.

What router are you using? Also you should sign into it and check to see if DHCP and RIP are properly configured.

Router is a NetGear RangeMax DG834N.

What are DHCP and RIP?

DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol and its job is to automatically assign devices with an IP address, as long as it's enabled and its settings are at default then you shouldn't have any problems. I have had issues with devices on my network not functioning properly before with my Netgear router because I didn't have RIP enabled.

It's fairly complicated so im going to link you for more info about it, generally though I would enable RIPv1 Bi-directional and see if that helps: RIP Info

I've got two options for RIP settings:

RIP Direction and RIP Version.

For Direction the options are "None", "In Only", "Out Only" and "Both". It's currently set to "None". Would bi-directional be "Both"?

For Version there is "RIP-1", "RIP-2B" and "RIP-2M". It's currently set to "RIP-1".

Am having exactly the same problem: send to print (wirelessly) and nothing. Or it says 11% printed and nothing more. Or it prints, eventually. Deleted jobs stay in the queue. Have deleted and re-added printer, uninstalled/reinstalled. Tried different computers (all MacBooks). It has a mind of its own as to when it wants to print. Have only had it a week. Googled and found I'm not the only one, tried the various solutions but no joy... I think the printer is at fault...

Alright, I've tried the bi-directional thing and it's still not working properly.

The printer still isn't printing correctly. It often takes a great deal of time to print. As I speak it has been printing a simple 12 page document for about 30 minutes.
