mobo swap without losing the OS
I have a a6120n OC with a p5lp-le leonite 2 mobo, the mobo is bad, it stopped recognizing the Hard drive. (been through the tests, see my other post for full details.

I want to know if I swap the mobo with a leonite 1 mobo will my vista home premium still boot?

Leonite 1

Leonite 2

there are only a few differences in the two mobo's.

It seems to be using all the same hardware,so,unless you are adding
different video or addin cards than you had before,it should boot up.

Are you sure the drive is good?

fairly sure. I mean its recognized when I hook it up to my XP computer. I can see all the files and such.

(if the drive is bad,and I get a different hard drive, can I just copy and paist the files to the new hard drive? and have it boot? Or is there a program that could do it for me? (the only way I can hook it to my XP computer is through the external hard drive that has a SATA connector to USB inside it, (removed the external from the case thing, and put the other sata inside it then booted the XP pc.

Copy > Paste will not work .. It has to be cloned or recovered from an Image.

HP Tattoos their Mobo and the OS is Married to the Mobo.
I really doubt that it will work with any other Mobo .. And even the exact replacement from HP has to be tattooed.
You'll probably have to buy a new operating system.

You won't be able to activate it .. and updated it.
It will show as an illegal system.
