Laptop HDD Trouble HELP!
I had problems with my laptop crashing and couldnt install xp back again due to file missing errors etc. I took out the hard drive and ran sea tools which told me the drive was bust. I got a new hard drive and the install of windows went just fine. I ran the backup cd with all the drivers on and that was that. Until i tried to use it! It just crashes none stop same as before. Now it wil not go past the postscreen with the hdd installed. If i remove it then i can access bios etc and the machine runs fine trying to boot from cdrom and network.

I have replaced the following with brand new stuff ...

Hard Drive
Memory
CPU
DVD-ROM

Do i have a faulty motherboard here? Only thing i have not replaced and i am stil geting the same error! I did notice the hard drive i took out had jumpers set to cable select so i tried this (and every other combination) but the furthest i got was getting into the bios with no hard drive found

Need help surely the mobo aint duff i had this all working at one point lol!

Thanks

i have just ran the windows 7 disc and it went perfect upto the hard drive options - really struggling here with this. Could it be the hdd connector on the mobo???

just noticed the date and time are always resetting so i assume bios battery is knackered. would this cause such a problem?
