Arun has posted this:

I'm thinking he has your computer at work.....so you didn't realize he has already gotten the sound back.

If this is so, then I cannot let your thread stay Open, we allow just one thread per problem.....

Obviously your thread isn't closed. But you don't provide enough information for anybody to help you.

What model number is your Compaq? What operating system are you installing on it?

BTW, trying to sort out your computer problems and your brothers computer problems would be a lot less confusing if you sign up here with your own user account.

Arunman- I have combined the two threads here in to one thread, please make ALL replies about any sound problems here and do not start any new threads for sound with either computer unless "sister" starts her own account in her own user name!

I am pretty sure we can get y our Compaq sound fixed if you just post what is asked. The generic assembled PC has it's sound problem fixed, at least that is what was posted in another thread.

Moving this thread to Hardware forum where it should be

Look on the back of the tower or underneath if it is a laptop for a Model ID and include the basic type of Compaq, for ex. Presario

If it can connect to the Internet, here is a place that HP/Compaq support can ID the computer for you and bring you right to the support pages where you can download the right drivers:

http://www.hp.com/#Support

First put a dot into one of the two areas up at the top, I would use "Download Drivers and Software"

Next, click on "Start Detection" there and see if it can give you the Model ID.....you could post that here if you want help.
