taking out network card
hi there,

I've recently been trying to take out my wireless LAN card and I can't quite figure out how to do it. The one I have is embedded into the mobo and it doesn't look like I can detach it without breaking it.

The antenna for this thing is in a really bad spot, the wire connecting the antenna and the chip passes through a tiny hole on the top of my tower and I am unable to pull the antenna through.

I'm starting to think that my only option is to cut the wire and forgo the $50 I payed for the thing. I tried contacted the hp support forums but hey keep referring me to the manual which doesn't mention anything about the wireless LAN card. I'm gonna try the phone support later today but I doubt they'll be much help.

just for reference here is a pic of the type of antenna I have http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9710/lanantenna.jpg

thanks

Does the connector on the end of the cable snap or screw onto a socket on the wireless card? If so, would it and the remainder of the cable fit through the hole in the tower?

it's hard to tell. It looks like it's supposed to stay on there permanently.

I think I'm just going to bring it into best buy or some other computer store and have it looked at by someone who can have look at it in person, it's kind of hard to explain what this thing over the internet.

Thanks for the reply though

Why?
Just rt-click/disable in Device Manager. If you want to replace it, just get a USB or PCMCIA adapter.
