samsung monitor black screen too long
Hi

I have a dual monitor my Samsung monitor (the 2nd display), takes forever before the picture comes out. I don't know if its on standby mode but it takes forever - like 2 hours or so before the picture comes out.

There is no damage on the picture, it is crystal clear, bright and completely nothing wrong.

What is the suspect here? Even if i plug the samsung monitor as screen 1, it doesn't show up, basically i need to wait for so long before the picture comes out.

Is this a windows problem or what?

thanks in advance.

If you put the other monitor as second Monitor does it also take a long time to show anything?

Are you using the 2 outputs from the video card to do this?

thanks for the fast answer. yeah only this samsung syncmaster monitor takes long to show up, ive tried switching their adapters/places including inside win7 to make the samsung switch back from primary and secondary, it does not want to show up immediately.

note that this does not happen overnight - it gradually happened. At first, the samsung shows up after 5 secs, then 10 secs, and then after days pass by it takes longer for it to show up and now it takes forever.

Also one thing to note, that my primary monitor (HANNS G), does sometimes fail to show up too, but not as worst as my Samsung.

I suspect it maybe a drivers or win7 issue?

I've had to send 2 Samsung 204B monitors back for warranty repair ..
Because it started to take forever for the CCFL backlight to "warm up" so I could see the screen.
They both started to go about 1 year into their life.

I'm currently waiting on a warranty return of a Samsung 2443BWT .. (one of my newer Twin Screens) ..
It's CCFL backlight suddenly went out about 1 year into it's life.

I'm now shopping for LED backlit monitors .. They should last forever.

i also just updated my nvidia drivers to the latest one - did not fix the problem.

Does point to the monitor being the problem

Sound like Old Age .. CCFLs have a limited life span.
I can't find a good LED monitor .. I refuse to get one with a glossy Bezel ..
that collects dust, finger prints and can "Look Back" at you.

My newest problem acted more like a CCFL power supply problem ..
It would go Dim for a few seconds .. then out.
It started to flicker for several days before this happened ..
I wasn't surprised when it went dead.

If it's not 3 years old yet .. Look into a warranty return ..
Samsung's warranty service is great .. you don't even have to pay to ship it back.
They send you a prepaid shipping label.
