Well the longevity of an LCD is like anything else. They can last for years or they can go bad in days. I have 2 old LCDs that are at least 6 years old. and they still get occasional use.

How old is the monitor? If it is realtively new and still has warranty time on it, and you have determined that the LCD is definitely the problem, return it for replacement.

If you have access to a second monitor that you can use for a while, even a crt monitor, if it doesn't repat the problem then it would most likely be the LCD. If it does repeat the same problem then it is something with some otherr hardware.

I usually upgrade my monitor when I build a new system. Which is about every other year. (hey I am almost due now) But I don't dispose of the monitor or the system I am replacing I migrate them to the rest of my family in my house. Wife gets the one Iam replacing, Daughter gets wifes, I get daughters for my work shop system. So all of these LCDs get well used and Ihave only had one fail It was 3 years oldat the time and it was an HP LCD.

It very may well be timefor youto start shoppingfor a new monitor.
