 | Junior Member with 27 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2008 Experience: Intermediate | | <insert original and exciting introduction title> Well, I'm doing my best to find a new way of saying "Hi". I don't have a huge vocabulary of different greetings so I will probably just stick to;
My most humble respect to the hosts of this forum, the fine administrators and the many generous, kind and no doubt good-looking contributors. To say that I have learned more in the last 24 hours than I have in the last ten years is not an exaggeration. There is, indeed, a wealth of information available, that would probably take several months of full-time viewing just to see what's above the water-line.
At the moment, as I prostrate myself before you in supplication hoping for a response to my plea for help in the "Malware Removal & HJT Logs" forum, I can only hope that the sound of my whimpering sobs can reach across the ether and the oceans to wherever my saviour resides. My offers to purchase beverages and snacks to assist in the task will probably be of little use, but I shall promise to be eternally grateful for any consideration of my request.
As for the reality of my situation; Hi, I'm an Englishman in, surprisingly, England. You can call me StoneAgeMan, or you can call me whatever you like. I'm old enough to remember watching black and white TV. I saw the Apollo 8 moon landings when I was about 3 feet tall and I'm now 5ft 11inches. There is now less hair on my head than a newborn baby, but more hairs in my ears than I care to admit.
I first worked on a PC in 1989, but didn't have one for home until 2001. I've had Cable Broadband for about 14 months and previously used 56k dial-up. I used to work for a Telecoms company in an engineering role but my PC field of expertise was as a User, not a fixer. | | Distinguished Member with 37,126 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Corn Fields of OHIO Experience: Einstein Jr. Indeed | | | | | Distinguished Member with 12,445 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Land of the Free Experience: Oh, yes... of course! | | Wow, SAM.... I was beginning to wonder if my posts were just echoes of my words, visible only on my own monitor. The thread I raised in the Malware forum is, as yet, still awaiting a response, but I see it hs been viewed quite a lot (currently 63 views, only 30 of which are mine ). I'm just hoping that someone kindhearted, generous and with a brain the size of a small planet, will come along and talk me through the operations required to return my lovely PC back to its normal happy existence.
As I said earlier though, there is plenty here to keep me occupied while I'm waiting. I shan't bump it, as it specifically says in the Welcome Guide; Quote: |
The Malware Removal & HJT forum is an exception... Please do not reply back to your original thread in the Malware Removal & HJT forum until someone else has replied as volunteers in that forum specifically look for threads with no replies.
| So let's hope that my case is like the guy who turns up at the hospital with a really rare and complicated illness - all the experts are fighting it out over who gets to treat the case. There's probably a group of enlarged-cranium Sci-Fi fans grappling on the floor of their darkened room right now, lit dramatically by the flashing lights of a thousand unidentified servers, PADs, switches and monitors. They'd better be careful or they might knock their "X-Files" poster off the wall. | | Distinguished Member with 2,753 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: On the computer Experience: learning more daily :) | | Sorry, but all I can say is be patient. There is a huge number of replys there and only those qualified can help. There are several users from here in training, but are not able to help yet. Good luck! (I would bump it if it gets over 2 days)

I might bump it on Monday (which would be Day 6 from first report)...
I just want it known that I'm still here, and still checking for progress. I haven't rung he doorbll an then run away. I'm still here. I've tried peeking through the curtains, but unless you're all very good at hiding behind furniture, I'm beginning to suspect that those few qualified experts are all on holiday somewhere (where do Anti-Virus geniuses go for their hols? A germ-free weekend in an isolation tank perhaps? A trip to Howard Hughes' Vegas Penthouse? An all-you-can-eat at NASA's food tablet laboratory?).
