Cool Hi
Hi all. I'm Luis. Haven't been here for 3yrs so I'm reintroducing myself. I'm having a little trouble trying to get my mother-in-law's comp to get audio up and running again. I really don't want to reformat her system and load up the software and drivers. It's a pain. She tends not to do any maintenance on her comp and she downloads all kinds of garbage. So far I've cleaned up and took out the trash on her comp and it's running so much better.

Her system is about 4 yrs old and running XP Home Premium SP1. Her audio is integrated into her mother board and I think I can do something to fix the problem without re-formating. The problem is that she has no sound at all of any kind. Everything else on her system is working fine. I suspect she downloaded something that screwed it up. I did a virus scan and it turned up nothing. But, I realize that if the virus has done it's damage that the scan wouldn't help. So if anyone can give some advice and instructions on how to fix the problem I's really appreciate it.

Thanks

-Luis

p.s. The device manager doesn't recognize a sound device on the computer.

Hi, please post in the hardware area or in the Vista section.

This room is not for asking for help, so this will have to be closed.

Feel free to start a new thread and reintroduce yourself

Good luck!
