For several years, I've used Ubuntu. I believe I've used it since version 8. I've used it on and off going between using it as a replacement for Windows (when I've gotten fed up with it) to using it as a backdoor OS whenever I'm having minor problems with Windows (ex: clicking on an AVI and you can't move it afterwards or an obscure file appears and Windows can't delete it). Right now, I've got it where I dual-boot most of my computers with Windows and Ubuntu so that I can use them one way or another interchangeably and at the same time.

I've gotten most all of them working right with all the right settings and drivers (still tinkering with setting up a secondary, static IP like I can for Windows). The main problem right now is that I'm struggling to setup a video card to work with Ubuntu. The video card is an ATI Radeon X800XL. Yes, it is rather old. But, it still works. I have tried fglrx, x.org, and any other ATI, Radeon drivers I can get ahold of through the synaptic package manager. The only difference any of them made was to align my monitor so that I didn't have a black gap running down one side or the other (that black gap that appears in Windows because you don't have the drivers installed yet). I have an AMW F199B that can go 1280x1024. I read that fglrx wasn't as good a x.org and that I wouldn't have to do any extra configuration once x.org was installed. Did I miss a step?

Also, I have downloaded the legacy drivers from AMD so that, in case someone knows of a program that can utilize Windows drivers (other than the Windows Wireless Driver program), I can use the inf files instead.
