massive network confusion
ok, fresh install RH8.0. I have two nics in it using only one...eth0

I have set it up as a static IP with the proper DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf.

Everything in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 looks good.

/etc/sysconfig/network has the proper gateway (a sonicwall box)

I can ping machines on the internal network, the gateway on the firewall and the router on the other side of the firewall.

I cannot ping or pull up anything else outside of the network. There is no firewall (chose that option, I'll write an IPTABLES script later on).

Any idea, usually if I can hit the router than I am all set. The exact error message is "connect: network unreachable".

I have tried IP's and domains. nslookup works so it appears dns is good.

update:

I have it working...
I had to add the default gateway to the route
route add default gw xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Now my question is what did I do wrong that this is not loaded on start of the network service? The gateway is set in /etc/sysconfig/network
