Mounting hardware Q's
Hello,
TOTAL newbie question here, but I can't figure this one out.

Installing Slack 8.1 on my old P166. I'm getting as far as selecting SW packages in SETUP to install, when I get an error....

What I get from the error: CDROM device is not mounted.

I can give the specific error when I get home, word for word (at work now), but will try to give the general "jist" of it.

Mount Error:
There was a problem mounting the device. Please ensure that it's mounted in "/dev/log/mount/slackware" .....

Again, I can repost here to give the full error, but am just hoping someone might have a "quick fix"....?

CDROM is a Creative 52X.....

Is it possible I need to reburn the ISO.....or that I have the incorrect ISO burnt in the first place?

WTIA,

No quick fix I can think of,so post the error.
What kernel is Slack using now?I guess it still supports the early Pentiums
May be loose cabling or somthing simple. It should've mounted the CD at the start.

Mount Error

Your device cannot be accessed properly. Please be sure that it is mounted on /var/log/mount/slackware, and that the slackware disks are found in the subdirectories of /var/log/mount/slackware like specified.

That's the error message in total. I've now tried 2 CDROM devices. Possibly an issue with my ISO image...?

TIA

I think you're right. If you tried 2 drives and it's using the onboard controller and a good cable, then it sounds like a bad CD.

Yep. Decided to try burning another image later in the week (after my holidays)
