Question WINE desktop
I have Mandrake 9 installed, and downloaded WINE from their site within the last month (don't remember the version).
I got WINE successfully installed, and it's in the opts (?) folder. It looks like it should bring up a Windows95 format desktop, so you can just click a shortcut and run a windwoes (mispelling intentional) program.
If so, I can't figure out how to do it.
I've been trying for the past couple of years, in my margin fringe spare time, to install and work with linux. Mandrake 9 is so automatic, it's the one I've had the most success with. Perhaps in time I'll totally convert to linux. For now, I want to be able to run JUNO, which is how I get most of my email. If I can do that while booted into linux, so much the better. I can spend more time in linux, without having to reboot for the occasional windwoes program.

Thanx in advance,
Frank

This is at least how it works in Knoppix, which uses KDE so it is probably the same.

You have to browse to the folder on your hard drive, right click the EXE, and choose WINE. The first time you run , it will ask you which version of Windows you wish to emulate.

I downloaded Wine last night it installed perfectly.
I notice in your response here to browse and find exe ?
Where do I do this at .
It would really help get over the hump with Linux if I could get somethings to work in it like VenDow$.

Thanks,
ikw38

Does mandrake use KDE or Gnome?
If its KDE, your hard drives should be on the desktop. Click on the main hard drive (may be listed as 001 or something like that), it will open in either Konquerer or some other browser. Navigate through it like in explorer, when you find the program you want to run, right click and choose "Wine"
