Unhappy internet not connecting
I am running Redhat 7.2. The modem has been configured and connects to my ISP, however I can't connect to any web sites. It's as if the browser isn't talking to my modem.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Check to see if you have this file:
/etc/resolv.conf
If not, create it by opening a terminal and typing:
touch /etc/resolv.conf
(be sure to leave a space after touch)

To add to Lynch's suggestion:

You may need to do a bit more, depending upon your networking setup (does your ISP provide DNS IP addresses, for example?). In my case (a completely manual setup), my /etc/resolv.conf includes a line to define my nameserver, and you may need something similar. Try man resolv.conf at the command line for more info on the purpose of this file.

Hope this helps.
