Cool linux web server
I am new to linux, but interested in something stable. i have a couple of friends that state that as a web server or such, linux is pretty stable. i want something that is stable, and not going to mess up a lot. (windows 2000 server) messes up a lot. I also want to be able to host 3-4 web sites on one ip address, and on one computer. any thoughts? or am i just crazy? lol

thanks.

Apache web server is used by over 70% of the internet and if you have any of the latest Linux distros,Apache will come with it.

also, adding to what lynch said, i would stay away from redhat 8, until an 8.x version is released, and go with 7.2 or 7.3 for now...

I read this the other day and it seemed a sensible thing:
Download the free version or buy it on cd-r from www.cheapbytes.com and try it out.If you like it and you want to try the next version, help the company that provided you with a free OS by spending a few more bucks on thier retail box version when it comes out.
BTW cheapbytes is a reputable business that I have dealt with many times.
