Link number out of range
I have this message "link number out of range" when executing that commands: cp, cat and gunzip.

Are you, by any chance, trying to use these commands on the same file? If so, what type of file is it (a gzipped tar archive, perhaps?). If it is an archive, it may be corrupt. You may also have a filesystem problem that needs to be corrected with fsck (this should happen automatically at boot time, however). A bit more information about what you're trying to do and what O/S you are running (if Linux, which distribution?) would be helpful. To my knowledge, none of the commands you mentioned produce such an error message.

If you have more info, we can give it a go.

Thank you for your reply. I tried these commands on many files. The O/S I use is sun solaris.
