linux install problems
I attempted to install RH8.0 on my emachines t1100. I have a Western Digital 80GB HDD, and used Partition Magic 8.0 to resize the disk so that I could use 20GB for Linux.

I go through the whole installer, and when it gets to installing packages, it does it's thing, and then says "preparing to install", then the screen goes blank, and it writes out this:

(Anaconda:94) : GnomeCanvas-Critical ** : file gnome_canvas_paths_def.c:line1142
(gnome_canavas_path_def_any_closed):assertion 'path!+NULL' failed.
installer exited abnormally
yada
yada
yada
you can safely reboot your system (or something like that)

Thinking it was a RH problem, I attempted to install Lycoris Desktop LX, and Libranet. Both also error out when they try to install the packages.

Any Ideas?
System specs:
emachines t1100
WD 80GB 7200RPM HDD
nVIDIA e-TNT 2 M64 32MB video card
512MB memory

How is it formatted?ext3 or Reiserfs?Did you format it with PM 8?
Try deleting the linux partition and let the installer recognize it as free space.Did you choose all the default or recommended choices or did you try choosing packages?
