Problem with RedHat 8.0 running slow
I just installed RedHat 8.0 with all the default settings and it's running significantly slow. Every time I type stuff, there's a random delay. It I type a sentence, for example, not all keystrokes make it through. I take it there's some sort of delay. I don't know what's wrong. Someone told me that I had to compile the video drivers.

I don't know if this is true. Anyone have any solutions? I appreciate any info. Thanks.

My computer is a Gateway 733MHz, 384MB.

Could be the keyboard rate is set too low.
What are you using when it's so slow?
Are you using OpenOffice,a text editor or typing at the command line?Or is it like this no matter what you're using?
Does the mouse work ok?
What video card are you using?
Does this happen when you logon as root?
Another thing you can do is run top from a terminal and see if anything is hogging cpu or memory.
