dualboot upgrade problems

I have been dual booting windows xp home and linex 7.3 for a while now and just upgraded to xp prof. My system has become very slow and all of the new functionality like iis is disabled. Please help if you can. It takes about 3 minutes for my shortcut icons to appear when booting which is about 10 times longer than usual. I am using grub as boot loader. Thanks for any help you can offer.
