OOo tweaks!
I got these tweaks from Newsforge this morning.

To get rid of the splash screen...
su to root,
open a text editor (kwrite, gedit, vi, (x)emacs, whatever),
find the file sofficerc, with RedHat and Mandrake it is under /usr/lib/openoffice/program, then make the following change...

[Bootstrap]
Logo=1
UNO_WRITERDB=$SYSUSERCONFIG/.user60.rdb

Change Logo=1 to Logo=0

Change only that one single digit, nothing else.
Many thanks to Robin 'Roblimo' Miller for this post!

Now to speed things up a bit. This is from a reply post to the above from Ed Holden...

- Launch OOo.
- Go to Tools > Options
- Under the OpenOffice.org category, choose Memory
- Pump it up

Just up the memory a little, I up'ed mine 5 megs (9MB-14MB) and it made a huge difference.
Again, huge thanks to Rob and Ed for the tweaks! Spread the word, folks!

A couple of guys have posted some hardcore oneliners to use in say Vi to get this done. Gotta love old Unix gurus!
