Thumbs down Internal PCI Modem Support
Hello,
I have installed REDHAT 8.0 on my PC. i had an internal PCI Modem -> HCF , Conxenant ,Rockwell chipset...
I have installed the required packages .. tweaked with setserial.played with wvDial/wvdialconf but still no success.kppp gives me modem busy status.
please help..

Try the different settings in the Device section of kppp setup.Like changing dev/modem to ttyS0 or ttyS1,for example.

I Tried that too.... but no result.. first i thought may be its due to IRQ sharing between my on board sound card and Modem so i disabled the sound card... but no positive result.

You could try disableing Plug and Play in your computer's BIOS setup.That may clear things up as far as resourse conflicts and hardware detection.

Finally i got it !!!
The problem was my modem was incorrectly reported as HCF .. whereas it was HSF.. then i downloaded and installed the HSF driver and HO!!! the modem was detected...
Then i had to change one or two modem Commands for making pulse dialing etc..
