NVIdia Graphics I am a total newbie so please excuse me if this plea appears to be simple
I own a toshiba laptop with a nvidia geforce 4 graphics card and a toshiba internal 1024x768 monitor and redhat linux 9
I downloaded and succesfully installed the most recent nvidia driver and everything was working well.
However my system is set up to automatically check the redhat linux website for program updates.
An update was downloaded and installed today and now I find that when I attempt to start the system using the updated program, it cannot get to the GUI but gives me error messages and then goes to the command prompt.
Someone suggested that I recompile something but I have no idea what tot do or how to do it.
Although I am pretty good with Windows and the DOS command window, I am a total newbie with linux so someone please help.
Incidentally my system boots up to a menu and when I select the original installed linux everything works fine.
It is only when I select the most recent update that I have problems |
