hi all,
well here's the thing..
i just installed a linux mandrake 9.1 and everything was great until it came to the internet part , i got dialup connection and i setup my KPPP and when i try to connect to the net it just says,
Initialising modem..... and then it stays there like that forever it won't connect, and i tryed everything but it doesn't work......

if somebody knows what's wrong with it pls. tell me..... thx.

You really have to give us more info if we're going to try and help:what model and type modem is it. You say you tried everything;just what does that include?There are some ISPs that give detailed instructions for setting up kppp.If that is the problem.Did you set up the modem during the installation?

Your modem is it a Winmodem??? If soo google abit and find out if it's supported by linux. Some winmodems are supported but might need some extra packages...

yes, it is a winmodem PCTEL Platinum V.90 Modem, but i was thinking about switching to adsl soon but until then i wanted to fix this dialup to use it for now, so if somebody can tell me what should i do about it, it would be great........
