Conexant modem in RH 9 issues
I am new to Linux and just built a box to run RH 9 on. I cannot seem to get the GUI to recognize the modem. It is a Modemblaster with a Conexant R6795-11 chipset which is HCF. I downloaded and installed the driver from conexant and verified that it is "associated" with /dev/TTYSHCF0. The modem was physically detected by KUDZU upon installation.

I have verified that the modules were loaded in the kernel, as the hcfpciengine, hcfpciserial, and hcfpciosspec are present during the lsmod command. I have verified that there is a symbolic link between /dev/modem and /dev/ttySHCF0, although both devices are highlighted in red. I ran hcfpciconfig with no issues. The bios is not PNP enabled presently.

I have been able to dial out and connect to my ISP using Minicom. The hardware browser does not show a modem, although I have it configured in the configuration wizard. I am not sure what I am missing. Am I supposed to manually start a dial up program prior to opening mozilla? If so, which one? I have worked on this for over 2 weeks, so any help would be appreciated.
