Hello, I'm a newbie to the linux OS so that may explain my isssues with it, but here my prob. I DLed the Mandrake Linux zip files, unzipped them and burned them to a cd, and when I try to boot from cd it didn't work(yes my PC it has the option to boot from cd and I went to the BIOS and enabled that option)
Then I made a bootable floppy using rawwritewin.exe, and when I boot with it the mandrake install screen comes up but when I press enter it loads for a few secs then tells me the boot disk is bad and tells me to insert the correct one and press any key to continue so I rebooted and tried numerous times with no luck.
So then I tried making a new boot disk, using the hd.img instead of the cdrom.img on the boot floppy disk thinking I could boot from the harddrive instead of CDrom, and no that did not work either.
So what am I doing wrong? Are the Linux boot cd's that I burned bad? Should I make new copies of the Cd's? Do I have to reformat my HD to install it? Pleas HELP!!!
