Problem getting to root
I am new to Linux, installed Mandrake 9.1 workstation option.
The system boots Ok and I have network access.
It boots up to my user name I created in install process.

It starts KDE desktop automatically and logs me in automatically.

I would like to get the welocm screen to allow me to login to
root or my user id. How do I set this up.

Whn I try the logout button nothing hqppens?

Sorry if this is a simple problem.

Have you tried the su (switch user command)? At least that is the command in RedHat and Dameon.

I can bring up a x terminal window and issue the su command and get to root ok.

I am trying to get the option when I cut the machine on and it boots up to see the window that allows me to choose between root and a user to login into.

Oh, ok. I am still a newbie at Linux so someone else may be able to tell you how to do that.

BTW, welcome to TSG!

Open the Mandrake Control Center and select the Boot option.Click on DrakBoot and at the bottom of the screen you can change the auto-login option.
