Help
Hey, I have an HP Pavilion 725n, and I have just spent a frustrating day trying to get it to run Red Hat 8.0.

My main problem is that I have 2 partitions, the main partition which is like 75 gig, and the recovery partition which is 5 gig or so. Unfortunately when I run disc druid, it wont let me edit the big partition and size it down. I succesfully installed linux once today, but had to delete windows, and the only way to restore windows with the HP recovery software was to fully reformat my hard drive...

Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks a bunch

If the only way to install windows is with the recovery disk that came with your machine, you need someway to shrink the partition. I would use partition magic. Its pretty cheap and very handy to have around. Just shrink the partition that windows is on and then dice up the remaining free space so that linux can squeeze in and your good to go.

Or you can figure out how to crack open the recovery disk to get at the windows install files and install them by hand with out using the whole 75 gig partition. I enjoy cutting obfuscating wrappers to pieces so I would try this first and then as a last resort I would go and buy partition magic.

I hope that helps,
