Sharing a windows XP internet connection
I'm trying to share an internet connection with my redhat 8.0 linux box. The "server" is a Windows XP machine. It uses a dialup connection and I have the connection shared and usable by anyone on the network. The connection between the machines is just a cross-over cable. The network is working fine as I can ping either machine. I set up the DNS servers from my ISP on the linux box in the networking configuration window. But I can't seem to get out to the internet. There are no firewalls (windows, software, or hardware). I am trying to get back into linux again, but I can't figure out what I am missing. Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance,
Snorii

You would either have to use a proxy server, like analogx proxy:
http://www.analogx.com

or a NAT program like Winroute Lite, http://www.winroute.com

You might be able to use ICS (it's in the advanced part of the network adapter setup on an XP machine) but I've had bad luck and horrid lag after I enabled ICS.
