Well ever since I upgraded to RH9 and Apache 2, I have had nothing but headaches.

The latest problem is that I cannot password protect any directories in the main domain (www.mydomain.com). But if I create virtual host say named (squashman.mydomain.com) and password protect a directory in there, it works just fine.

This makes no Fricken sense at all. The .htaccess and .htpasswd files are identical. Permissions are correct.

I get the Password box for the subdomains but the main domain it just bypasses the htaccess and executes the index file.

I am just baffled by this.

Have you checked the httpd.conf file for a directive that may exclude .htaccess and .htpasswd from the DocumentRoot?

I did resolve this issue. I just forgot to post back. Apache 2.0 must set the AllowOverride None by default. I have no idea why they would do this. I dont remember it being that way in Apache 1.3.

They have changed so much crap around with 2.0, it has been making my head spin. I am ready to go back to 1.3. Took me 2 days to figure out why my Virtual Hosts would not work when I upgraded to 2.0.
