Education, Certification and alot of luck for some people. Haven't you noticed all the layoffs in the past couple of years.

But then there's those small companies that hire within because one of there employees knows more than everyone else about Windows but doesn't know crap about TCP/IP and subnetting. Then they end up coming here asking for help.

Do I sound a little bitter. I hope not. I just know too many Network Admins that dont know there head from their butt.
