Linux OS?
Linux OS?

I have a friend w/ almost no money to spend on a computer.

There is a computer in the Fry's flyer that uses the Linux OS system.

He has used Win98 in the past.

How much different would it to be for him to use Linux and can he play his football games on Linux?

Although Linux is getting easier and eaiser to use for the general user I think you will find that it is much different then any version of Windows. It may also be unlikely that the games you mention will run on the system depending on the games and which flavor of linux the computer is running. Out of curiosity what is the maximum your friend can or will spend? Maybe there are other options.

Here's one thread that may be helpful: http://forums.techguy.org/showthread...readid=157230; you can find another at http://forums.techguy.org/showthread...readid=145775. My "standard opinion" appeared in http://forums.techguy.org/showthread...hreadid=72508.

Bottom line: Linux is not a substitute for Windoze.

Hope this helps.
