Help with ACPI
I have a laptop with Debian on it (kernel version 2.4.20). Currently, the acpid package is not installed. Debian's servers have been compromised and the package section of the site has been taken down. Where can I get that package and could someone please give me some guidance in proper installation and configuration of ACPI for a laptop.

Should be here.
It's a good idea to find a mirror site for any downloads. The main sites are always slowwww.
As far as installation and configuration, you may need to re-compile the kernel but I'm not 100% sure about that.Perhaps it's just a module.
This fellow had felt the need to do that.Kernel patch acpi
