Space on Hard Drive
How can I find the available space on the hard drive in Linux Redhat 9 ?

Obviously I'm new to Linux. I did purchase a book, but it doesn't tell how to do this . .

At the command prompt, type the command: df -k and you should receive output that displays the used, available and total space for each mounted filesystem (Linux or otherwise). Note that the results will be reported in units of 1024-byte blocks (that's what the -k option does); a million 1-K blocks is roughly a gigabyte.

Hope this helps.

You're welcome -- and please post again if the command doesn't work for you.

You can also use the -h option for human-readable output.

Lol. I realized after I posted that you probably knew of that option.
Nothing wrong with prop-heads.There quite handy at keeping us literal-minded folks from getting too full of ourselves.
