Okay heres the deal,
I was running windows XP pro and then i used Partition magic V8 to make a linux partition. i installed linux RH9 and everything seemed to go smoothly. I am on linux now and it runs great (as expected) the problem occurs when i load windows up.

I get all the way to the part after where it says Winows xp pro is loading and it has that bar moving on the bottom. Shortly after i get the screen that appears to be the CHKdisc utility but on the top it reads autochk is missing now skipping autochk and my computer restarts. HELP!

You'd mentioned in a previous post that LILO appeared to conflict with Windows; I may be wrong, but I think it had more to do with the PM8. Did you try to boot to XP after creating the partition?

There may be an easier way to fix it, but what I'd do is repair the MBR for Windows (this thread covers that topic, thanks lynch!), and make sure you can boot to XP. This will lock you out of RedHat, but there may be a way to install GRUB without losing the RH install; otherwise, you'll have to trudge through it again.

Perhaps someone with more experience can help with installing GRUB...

My windows partitition was messed up it was NON-dos in fdisk

I just removed windows and i'm running redhat now i just gave up i didnt feel like bull****tin' with windows anymore lol

Well, it should be pointed out, from another thread, that it appears the poster was used an illegal copy of windows. So in essence, it wasn't windows fault

Oh, let me see, one thread was closed of yours for an illegal request, I just closed another one. I'm sure if you have an illegal copy of 98, your XP is the real thing
