Due to a suspected screwup setting up my dial-up networking my RH9 stops partway thru the boot process (during PPP).

Shortly before that there is a line that suggests that if I type "I" I could enter the interactive boot process and perhaps skipp the PPP process, bring Linux up and then perhaps fix the problem.

Needless to say hitting "I" at that point does no good what-so-ever and it hangs once again...

Any ideas?

try booting with the bootdisk that you created on installation.. or try booting in single-user mode and removing the pppd from startup..
