clean installing Win98SE/linux
I thought I'd have a little fun while bringing my personal computer back to life tonight. I used to be a window$ fan but I've become more dicinchanted with Micro$oft lately and ready to take the plunge into linux.

I've got a clean HD now and wondering what the best way would be to partition and format a 40GB harddrive..

First off I thought I read somewhere M$ updated the Fdisk program, a link to a new copy would be appreciated.

second, in the past I would make a 3-5 GB part to isiolate window$ and make the rest a data drive. So incase window$ crashed I wouldn't lose data if I had to reformat. I thinking of leaving some space unparted for linux I just wondering how much.

Right now I'll probably use Knoppix just to get used to linux but then install a hard version on linux. How complicated is it to set up a dual boot?

Just use the partitioning tools on your linux install disk. 99+ % of linux distros have a part during the install to partition..... and then you can exit the install, boot a dos floppy, install windows, then go back and install linux. be sure to install windows FIRST, cause it does not play nice with other OSs in install.
