You can do ALL of the above things. You just have to make up your mind. I dont know much about lindows, it being one of the few non-free distros in a free distro world, however, 99+% of linux installers give you the following options.
  • Wipe the HD, leaving nothing but linux.
  • Partition the drive, allowing a dual boot system (This may have to be done pre install)

Again, 99+% of distros will set up lilo automagicly, allowing you to select windows if you so choose.

1) It depends. If you use a nondestructive tool, then chances are, windows will not be affected. You would just steal free space from windows for linux using FIPS, or Partition magic (which i HIGHLY reccomend, if this is your first linux trip).
2) No, its not like slaving a drive . <http://www.newlogic.co.uk/kbase/fdisk/page1.htm> for an explanation.
3. "Can i get lindows the new off Bit torrent or somthing" No. Lindows is a NONFREE operating system, simmilar to Windows. There are many many free alternatives, Mandrake being one of the more often reccomended for people new to linux.

If you really want to get down and dirty and intelligent with linux, i'd burn a copy of debian, and learn that. It is common, and you learn there, is usually applicible on most other linux OSs

Best bet is to just buy a cd. Downloading is illegal, and in this case pointless when there are free alternatives. Its not that hard to find a local friend to burn it, or find a linux user group. If i may, i might reccomend Mandrake. It is known, and very well accepted by newbies.
