Is slackware as full of packagy goodness as debian, or is it more source oriented, with only the minimal amount of packages available. I'd like to know, because if somthing good doesnt happen to debian very soon, i may be switching to a distro that is less.. dated.
I dont mind source compiling, though it does take more amounts of time than i like to use. | | Senior Member with 1,246 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2003 Experience: Linux~su | | White i wanna say that its mostly source for slackware, I have a friend who uses it so i can get the answer fairly quickly. Just need to catch them online. But I do want to say mostly source. | | Senior Member with 1,246 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2003 Experience: Linux~su | | Well i got the word from my friend. I have regained my sanity, and may opt instead to simply reinstall the entire system, and then go from there. There was a bunch of junk, so this will be good.
Next question: How to direct connect linux and WinXP to back up my home dir. | | Senior Member with 1,246 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2003 Experience: Linux~su | | most likely will need samba. Thats the only way i can think of even to start. After that i guess just copy everything over to a folder. | | Distinguished Member with 2,051 posts. | | Join Date: Nov 2002 Location: Alberta, Canada Experience: Windows: Decent.
