Adding new HDDs to a RAID5 (UNIX)
Hi all,

I would like to add 3 more SCSI HDDs to my existing RAID5 array of disks (6 total). I would like to know would a total of 9 HDDs on an IBM F80 server is too taxing for the power supply? What is the recommended number of HDDs for a particular server running RAID5 configuration?

I presume I will need to back up all the data on the VG, break the RAID5 by delete the current VG, add the HDDs, build the RAID5 again and then import the data back right?

Thanks

Take a look : <http://www.uni-mainz.de/~neuffer/scsi/>
<http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/>

Take a look at the ATA raid tutorial, because some of that still applies to SCSI. I Cant say if any of this will be helpful, but i can give it a shot.
